manufacturing has enabled them to produce a range of coilover suspension kits that
are specifically designed for each application and suited perfectly for performance
driving on a variety of surfaces. Bilstein B16 Ride Height Adjustable Kits are an
adjustable ride height system front and rear, with adjustable damping. PSS9 kits
feature 9 damping adjustments, PSS10 feature 10 damping adjustments.
The B16 PSS Coilover Kits feature adjustable gas pressurised damping. The
adjustability of the damping offers a choice of set up, making these kits ideal for
different driving styles - decent ride quality for everyday driving use, stiffened
damping for the weekend. The triple C Technology used for surface coating gives

Bilstein use monotube dampers for applications where performance is key.
Monotube dampers offer several advantages. Unlike the more commonly used
twin-tube dampers, the oil inside the damper all stays in one compartment.
It isn’t mixing with gas either. This means it isn’t susceptible to foaming. The
monotube design also doesn’t heat it up nearly as much. Because the inside of
the damper unit is all one tube, you’ve got a wider damper to work with offering
smoother, better-controlled damping.
Bilstein are masters of the art of setting dampers up to give a firm, controlled
ride, without being harsh or uncomfortable. B14s are fixed damping rate, but
Bilstein thoroughly test their kit both on demanding tracks and on real
European roads, so these are an excellent balance between comfort
and handling.
Onto these dampers Bilstein mount height adjustable springs. Just as they are
experts at fine-tuning damper rates, Bilstein also know how to match springs
and dampers so as to provide an ideal balance between comfort/ridequality and grip.
One of the challenges facing coilovers is that to be adjustable they need
threaded sections, and threads and adjusters can corrode and seize up. To
combat this, Bilstein use their own Triple-C anti-corrosion coating. This resists
corrosion from road salt extremely well. They also use rounded thread sections
which are easy to turn.

3 • B8 Sprint Shock Absorber

absorbers designed for use with lowering springs. Their special
short stroke design means that they perfectly match lowering springs.

Bilstein B8 Sprint Dampers are specially designed to be used with lowered and
uprated springs on lowered vehicles. They are the perfect solution for anyone
that wants increased handling capabilities and a sports suspension set up. The
shortened dampers provide the optimal balance when combined with lowered
sports springs. The legendary Bilstein damping smoothes out bumps for an
excellent ride but gives excellent high speed road holding.
The monotube design offers greater piston rod area for smoother, more
controlled damping. Monotube dampers are much more resistant to heat fade
which makes them ideal for extended hard use.
While these are likely to be firmer than your original equipment shock absorbers, the monotube design means they stay smooth and controlled. Fitting firmer shock absorbers with lowering springs actually gives you a smoother ride,
as the rebound is better controlled. The car should be more controlled at low
speed than it would be with standard dampers combined with lowering springs.
In order to better match lowering springs, these have a shorter travel than B6s
to better match stiffer, lower springs. It also means they aren’t wearing out too
quickly because they are never fully extended.

4 • B6 Sport Shock Absorber
Bilstein B6 Sports Dampers are high performance
monotube shock absorbers. Designed for fast-road
driving, these will be firmer than your factory equipment
in most cases. Bilstein recommend these for
standard-height or mild-lowering springs.

Bilstein’s B6 Sport Shock Absorbers are, in most cases,
high performance monotube dampers, designed to offer
enhanced handling over standard equipment. Higher
rate valving and upside down monotube design make
these firmer than original equipment in most cases.
Firmer dampers give improved grip and handling, and
pairs very well with lowering springs.
Monotube dampers have a wider diameter piston area,
and the oil and gas have no opportunity to mix. This
makes them smooth and controlled and helps resist
heat fade.
Bilstein are masters at valving a damper to be firm,
but not harsh and their B6 range is no exception.
