1 • Accusump
The Accusump is an oil reservoir
that is connected to the engine’s oil
system. It is designed to deliver oil to an engine
before starting to eliminate dry start scuffing (pre-oiling) and to deliver oil
whenever the normal engine oil pressure drops, to protect against engine
damage during demanding racing discharges. Simply installed through one
line which is the return line of an oil cooler or remote filter using a ‘T’ fitting,
into an input sandwich plate adaptor, or directly into one of the engines oil
galleries, the Accusump fills and discharges. There are 3 options of valve to
suit the Accupump, all of which pre-oil and provide surge control.
They are: Manual ball valve (Item 3), Electric valve (item 1) and the EPC
(Electronic pressure control) (Item 2).
A simple twist or flick of a switch to operate the valve before the engine is
started allows the reserve of pressurised oil to pre-oil the engines bearings
for a non scuff start. Once the engine is started the oil builds pressure, oil is
pumped back into the Accusump for the next restart or whenever the engines
normal oil pressure drops. It’s unique design allows it to charge
and discharge as the engine requires to maintain pressure under a number
of circumstances.
